Hi!
Thanks for stopping by and checking out the place. These sections of websites are always a little amusing ( the About page that is ). You have two options: Go for the serious third person, or go for the funny first person. But rarely is there a funny third person, or a serious first person. You have folks giving silly anecdotes about themselves, or you have this mysterious author ( who seems to be writing everyone’s biography on the web ) tell you about all the accolades that he or she has received from experts you probably have never heard of. Maybe you have, and that’s even better.
But for me, I’d rather let the photography do the talking, or whatever it is an image does (I don’t think a picture can actually talk, or at least I’ve never seen, nay, heard any of them talk). I would think that you would like to get to know the photographer ( me ), and the best way to do that is in person.
The best photographs I have taken are of my friends. People who know me well, and trust me, and can let themselves be relaxed around me, even though I am pointing a top-of-the-line camera in their direction. There’s no direction to give because you’re just being yourself. I am there to expertly interpret through an artist’s eye your feeling of the day. Is that not what art is? The ability to convey a feeling, an emotion, a thought. That is my charge as your photographer.
A note on awards: There is one award I am particularly proud of, mainly because of how it came about that I was awarded it. That was a Silver Key from the Boston Globe Scholastic Art Awards. It’s awarded to about 300 kids from around the state of Massachusetts, where only a quarter of the applicants receive an award of any kind.
As far as the small talk goes, I have been shooting professionally for six years, all over the country, from Montana to right here on Cape Cod. I use top-of-the-line equipment ( a Nikon D2Xs to be specific ) with top-of-the-line printing ability, and I have really, really nice stationery for letters and such.
Thank you again for taking a moment to browse through the place; I hope you found everything and enjoyed your stay!
Sincerely,
Ben Nugent
